Side by Side

I often hear how much Seren looks like me. I also hear often how much John looks like his dad. 

The truth is, I think Seren looks just like her father. She may have some of my facial features (not sure which ones), but her demeanor and walk is all her father's. Not to mention she has his hands and feet. 

When I sent out John's birthday party invitations, I used this picture below. I gave one to a co-worker and he said, "Oh, he looks just like you." I said, "You think?" I don't normally hear that, but the older John's gotten, the more I am seeing the Reta side to him. I have often thought that he looks like my brother when he was little. I also think he looks like my cousins, when they were little. I think it's the dark hair. Anyway, the other day I was on facebook, cleaning out some of my pictures when I came across these two side by side. The one on the left is of me, on my mom's lap when I was 5 or so. I was kinda surprised to see how much John does actually look like me when I was little! It makes me so happy that he has some of my genes in him, because he does have a lot of his father's genes as well. I think he has his dad's feet, just like Seren has her dad's feet. I must have a lot of recessive genes in me, that don't get passed along to my littles, or at least don't show until now! ;) 

Awww, I was such a cutie when I was little. And John is such a cutie now. :)
