Seren's grandpa, on her father's side, passed away today. She was able to meet him this summer when she went out to visit. I am so grateful for that. It's very, very sad, as his wife lost her husband of over 40 years, just a year after she lost her son. She's lost her brothers, son and husband to heart disease. I pray she has strength to get through these next few days. I pray she finds comfort in the family around her. The same with Seren's uncles. They lost a father. He was a grandfather too, even to little ones. From what I've been reading on Facebook, he was truly loved and active in everyone's life. I'm so very, very sad for the family. In the sadness I also have gratitude. I'm glad that Seren was able to meet him. I'm happy her brother was able to re-connect with him. I'm thankful that Seren's dad was able to mend his relationship with him before he, himself, passed away.
This makes me think of my grandfather. He's been the single most influential male role model I've had in my life. He's in his late 70's, and I know one day he'll be gone, but I refuse to think of that day. For now I cherish the time I have with him. I cherish the time he has with John and Seren.
My heart is heavy for Seren's family. They have been family to me, and I wish I could help them in some way. For now I send them love and prayers.
