Growing Up!

Well, my Baby John is no longer my "baby." Friday he will be 3 years old and there have been lots of new growth recently!

John's speech is much, much better since he's been in speech therapy. He has aged out of his current program, and will now start at our local school. His speech therapist was super nice and I just loved her. She even said John was her favorite (I'm sure she tells all her clients that). I'm really sad we will no longer see her, but I'm super thankful to her for all of her help. It's so nice to be able to finally have a conversation with my little one. <3

Other news.....John's potty trained!!! Yippie!!! I tried to start the process shortly after he turned 2. Seren was potty trained by the time she was 2, and it was easy with her. I knew that boys took longer, but it was pretty clear that he wasn't ready. I had the potty sitting out in our living room so he'd get use to it. Sometimes he'd sit on it, other times he wouldn't. He never used it, though. He'd cry when I'd try to put him on my toilet, so I just let it be. I knew he wouldn't be in college and still be in diapers, so I wasn't too worried. A few months ago John's dad said he was going to start potty training him while he was at his house. I still didn't think he was ready, but I knew when he was it would take. Also, his dad has all the parts and John might be more receptive to his dad teaching him. Around Seren's birthday John's dad told me John was in undies. Once that happened, I knew he was ready. He's been in undies for the past few weeks and I would say he's completely potty trained! He tells me when he has to go number 1 and 2. He doesn't have accidents at all anymore. He wakes up dry, both after nap and after sleeping all night. How exciting, he's such a big boy! (When I tell him he's a big boy he tells me, "No, I John!")

Earlier today we all went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes, and when I went to pay for John I realized he's only free for 4 more days! Awwww, my sweet, sweet boy is growing up. He can do things he couldn't do before, like whistle and count to 10 (and a bit higher). He's so loving and kind and my favorite words he says to me are, "I wuv ewe too." What joy he has brought to my life.
